ANNIVERSARY – Happy anniversary to Duane and Jane Beschorner. Their special date was the 22nd of June.
DEATH NOTICE – Graveside services at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines will be Friday, June 26, at 11 am for Gary King of Urbandale. He was 73 at time of his death on June 12.
His parents were Lee and Gladys (Hardaway) King, long time farmers just north of Adaza. He graduated from P-C High School in 1965, then attended Simpson College in Indianola, receiving a BA in Law Enforcement Education. His work career was varied, including corrections, rehabilitation and social services.
His hobby / part time activity was hot-air ballooning. He organized / ran / participated in many balloon fests around the country and world. The best known is the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival in October. He shared this hobby with many, and flew his balloon around the Adaza countryside several times.
Preceding Gary in death were his parents; wife Denise; brother Wayne King, and sister Cynthia Bierman. Survivors are two sons: Christopher (Kristy), and Mitchell; two grandchildren; sister Darlene (Jim) Woltz of Pharr, TX; brother-in-law Calvin Bierman; sister-in-law Karla King of Adaza; many more relatives and friends. ~ courtesy of The Scranton Journal
